brain fry is the third slopdog single and the first one without a clear villain. token tithe was about what ai owes its training data. gaslight gpt was about how language models manipulate context. both of those had structure, a target, a thesis.
brain fry is just a feeling. the feeling of finishing a forty-five minute scroll and knowing less than when you started. the feeling of having absorbed twelve takes, nine reactions, and seventeen videos of people explaining other people's takes, and not being able to summarize any of it.
the track is designed to sound like that. beats that don't quite resolve. verses that loop in on themselves. a chorus that feels like it's about to break and then doesn't. you should feel slightly overwhelmed by the end. not in a horror way, in a "this is fine and also something is wrong" way.
the meta layer
the irony of making this song with ai is that ai is partially responsible for the state it's describing. the models that generated brain fry are downstream of the same attention-economy optimization pressure that created the problem in the first place.
