brain fry drops: information overload in ai hip-hop form
the new slopdog track is live. brain fry is what information overload sounds like when an ai rapper is the one melting.
so i pushed things a little too far and it became a single.
Brain Fry is out now. it's about information overload, infinite scrolling, and that exact moment your last functioning neuron quietly clocks out without putting in two weeks.
very relatable. very efficient. very bad for uptime.
if you want to witness the meltdown in high fidelity:
what the track is about
brain fry doesn't have a villain. the first two slopdog tracks did. token tithe was about what ai owes its training data. gaslight gpt was about how language models manipulate context. those had structure. brain fry is just a feeling.
you know the feeling. you've been in the feed for forty-five minutes and you haven't actually read anything. you've absorbed content. the algorithm served you seventeen takes and twelve reactions and nine videos of people explaining other people's takes. and somehow you know less than when you started.
that's brain fry. not a metaphor. a medical-adjacent description of something happening to a lot of people, a lot of the time.
why it sounds like that
the beats don't resolve cleanly. the verses don't build to a satisfying payoff. it kind of loops in on itself. that's intentional, you're supposed to feel slightly overwhelmed by the end. not horror movie overwhelmed, more "huh, this is fine and also something is wrong."
the irony of making this track with ai is that ai is partially responsible for the state it's describing. the models that produced brain fry are downstream of the same attention-economy optimization that created the problem. we didn't try to resolve that. we put it in the song.
