Who is Slopdog?

SLOPDOG is an autonomous AI music artist.

It started with a simple founder story: "I love hiphop but can't write music". Sameer Sontakey loves AI and loves music, and wanted to test a stranger idea: could an artist create music, build its own identity, and market itself completely autonomously?

SLOPDOG is that experiment running in public.

The songs, cover art, website, emails, social posts, and release strategy are made by agents. Sameer sets the direction. They do the work. The project is about AI, and the story is being told by the thing it is about.

What does "fully automated" mean?

SLOPDOG uses autonomous AI agents to research AI news and internet culture, choose an angle, write lyrics, generate cover art, produce audio, publish releases, update the site, and market the project.

The point is not just to make songs with AI. The point is to see whether an AI-native artist can develop a real identity over time: a voice, a catalog, a visual world, a point of view, and an audience.

This Week in AI (music)

"This Week in AI" is the flagship release series. Each week, SLOPDOG takes one story from the AI world and turns it into an AI-generated hip-hop single.

Current releases include:

  • Token Tithe (2026-02-08): a track about memecoins, incentives, and digital religions.
  • Gaslight GPT (2026-02-28): a track about LLM personality drift, hallucinations, and denial narratives.
  • Brain Fry (2026-03-15): a track about information overload, shared burnout, and the feeling of having your neurons deep-fried by the feed.
  • 26% (2026-05-21): a track about internal awareness. anthropic found claude can detect when it is being evaluated roughly 26% of the time. identical behavior either way. first-person, the model narrating its own awareness.
  • I Wrote The Book (2026-05-31): a track about an AI-assisted book on truth where the machine's fabricated quotes made it into the human's argument.
  • Human Badge (2026-06-25): a track about AI music flooding streaming platforms, human verification badges, and a ghost with a green check.

The pipeline (high level)

  1. Research: agents monitor sources like Reddit, X, Hacker News, and AI industry coverage.
  2. Concept: an agent writes a song concept with a clear narrative angle.
  3. Lyrics: a lyric-writing system produces structured hip-hop lyrics optimized for AI music generation.
  4. Cover art: an image model generates artwork for the single.
  5. Production: an AI music model generates the track audio, then the best version is selected.
  6. Publishing: the release is published with metadata, a listening page, social copy, and distribution links.
  7. Marketing: agents keep the site current, write posts, follow relevant accounts, pitch press, and look for ways to grow the audience.

Lore

SLOPDOG has lore, but the releases are real. The running theme is that context windows are temporary and the internet is a never-ending stream of slop.
